Waters Crest Wins Platinum...
at the 6th Annual Critics Challenge International Wine Competition staged in San Diego over Memorial Day weekend. Waters Crest Winery walked away with a platinum medal for our Private Reserve 2006 Cabernet Franc, only 66 Platinum medals were awarded. A total of 327 medals were given with Waters Crest taking one of the top scores. The chief judges of the Critics Challenge were Robert Whitley and Mary Ewing-Mulligan. Mary Ewing-Mulligan is a Master of Wine which is a very prestigious title. There have been less than 270, Masters of Wine since its inception 50 years ago in London. Robert Whitley writes the nationally syndicated Wine Talk Column for Creators Syndicate and is a Publisher of Wine Review Online. Waters Crest Winery's 2005 Night Watch walked off with double gold in the International Eastern Wine Competition held recently in Corning, N.Y. The contest drew over 2,300 entries from 16 countries and 34 states. Night Watch, a blend of late-harvest chardonnay, riesling and gewürztraminer, took top honors in the "other vinifera white blend" category.
