Jim and Linda Waters
Long Island’s North Fork, one of the finest wine growing regions in the world, and most recently the subject of a glowing cover story in Wine Spectator magazine, is home to Waters Crest Winery, a family-run operation owned by Jim and Linda Waters.

Waters Crest is one-of-a-kind on the wine-rich East End of Long Island. Jim Waters, home winemaker turned award-winning professional, produces limited edition, high quality, boutique wines that are as delicious as they are unique. The grapes that go into the Waters Crest wines are carefully hand-selected from local growers, and Jim Waters’ expertise in selecting only the highest quality fruit is the inevitable precursor to making the fine wines for which Waters Crest is internationally recognized.

Come visit the Waters Crest tasting room, sidle up to our barrel-and-marble bar, and sample the first of many fine wines on the Waters Crest tasting menu. As you gaze through the mirror behind the gorgeously ornate corkscrew that sits just to the side of the stacks of fine glassware, you'll see exactly where the delicious wine you are sampling was made!

All of Waters Crest’s wines are made, bottled, and labeled right on site; and visitors are always welcome to a winery tour. Accept an invitation to the limited-membership Waters Crest Wine Club, and you can even sample new vintages straight from the barrel!

Please come join us in our cozy tasting room; and enjoy one of the best selections of hand-crafted boutique wines available on the renowned North Fork of Long Island, served to you by ourselves, and our friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable staff.

About Our Region
At Waters Crest, we passionately believe that the terroir on the East End of Long Island makes it one of the best wine growing regions in the world. As defined by experts at the world-renowned enology program at The University of California at Davis (who recently held a “Terroir 2006” conference specifically devoted to the issue), “terroir refers to the influence of the natural environment on the growing of grapes and the production of wine.” Meaning that the terroir of a region is a large part of what makes that region’s wines unique, and uniquely identifiable.

Given our sandy soil and Atlantic maritime climate, our combination of cooling influence from the ocean and warming influence from the bay, and our ripeness-enhancing penchant for being the sunniest part of New York State, we grow our grapes in an ideal viticultural microclimate. This unique environment is matched only by the famed Bordeaux region of France, home to some of the greatest wine producers the world has ever known.

We have chosen to produce wines made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Chardonnay grapes, as we feel these are the varietals best suited to our unique terroir. But keep an eye out for our limited runs of Riesling and Gewurztraminer; they are subject to rigorous hand-selection of only the best fruit. They are delicious!
